Malt vs. Shakes

I have to admit, I'm a shake man. I have a special place in my heart during the $5.00 shake scene in Pulp Fiction. Hell yeah it's just Milk and Ice Cream! With that thought in mind, here are more of my thoughts about Shakes.

I don't actually like mine all that thick. Sure, the conventional wisdom is to get it really, really thick, but I don't want to feel like I'm trying to invert a lung just to drink the stupid thing.

Inevitably, I give myself brain freeze.

The only real shake is one served in a glass, with the rest of the shake served in the metal canister, fresh from the blender. If you order two shakes and they give you one canister, you have been screwed!

I prefer Whipped Cream on top, cherry and/or sprinkles optional.

I'm a simple man, in this regard, I don't want crushed up stuff mixed into my shake. No cookie bits, no M&Ms, etc. Milk and Ice Cream. However, strawberry milk shakes can have bits of strawberry, even if they get stuck in the straw sometimes, as long as they are bits of strawberry from the Ice Cream.

That having been said, I want really, really good Ice Cream. Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla, Blue Bell Strawberry, Blue Bell Milk Chocolate or Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate (seeing a trend here yet? Wanna guess my favorite ice cream?)

Using Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Syrup to make a Chocolate Shake violates the Milk & Ice Cream Rule, it is verboten!

A cheeseburger and fries is the ideal meal to enjoy with a shake.

A shake can be enjoyed by itself.

Sharing a shake with someone you love is on par with giving up a kidney for them in the hierarchy of Love's expressions.

It's totally ok to slurp when you get to the bottom, but you have to try to make it one long slurping session that finishes off the shake.

A glass of Ice Water is a good beverage to accompany your shake.

Working together to make a couple of shakes at home is one of the world's great Parent/Child How-To activities.

Lastly, you should never feel guilty about drinking a shake. Anything that gives you that much joy and brings that much peace and contentment to your life is more than doing it's part to counter-balance the effect it has on your diet.

I agree, I don't like bits in my shakes. If I want cookie bits, or better yet, cookie dough bits, I opt to get a Dairy Queen Blizzard or something similar. Something designed to be consumed with a spoon, not a straw.
